Alonissos Now

Make the most of your stay on Alonissos

Alonissos changes with the wind. A bay that suits Tuesday may be rough on Wednesday. Alonissos Now helps you choose where to swim, where to find shade, and what to keep for later.

Hidden gems

The places you would not find on your own

The Peristera shipwreck is not on Google Maps. Nor is the fact that it is reachable only by boat, that it sits inside the licence-free rental zone so you can get there without a skipper's licence, or that there is no shade and no water when you arrive. Every entry carries what you actually need to get there and what to watch for once you have.

The Peristera Shipwreck entry: a photograph of the wreck, how to reach it by boat, and what to take care of.

Wind & shelter

09:30 · Pick the side of the island that works today

The app ranks beaches by shelter and explains the call. It reads the wind against the coast and terrain around each bay, so you can see why one beach is calmer than another.

The beach list filtered to Calm and easy.

Shade timeline

14:45 · Find the shade before you park

Each beach has a shade timeline. It shows when the sun leaves, which side gets cover first, and where trees help. Useful when an August afternoon runs longer than planned.

Sea temperature

Before you get in · See what the water is doing

Sea temperature comes from a live marine reading where one reaches Alonissos. When it does not, the app shows the monthly Aegean average and labels it clearly.

Works offline

Whenever you lose signal · Keep the island with you

The map, photographs and 70 written place entries are bundled in the app. Save the places you want to return to, then open directions in Maps when you are ready to go.

Where to eat

Where to eat, chosen by who cooks there

Fisher-owned fish tavernas and classic Greek kitchens, with the catch coming off the boat. Each entry says what the place actually does well, and the ones not worth the drive are left out.

Written pages

Do not miss the ones that matter

The places worth making time for get a written page, not a pin. The monk seal centre explains why Alonissos sits in Europe's largest marine reserve and what else lives in it, alongside the practical part: it is free, it is on the Patitiri waterfront, and the shop funds the research.

Practicalities

And the ordinary things, close by

Pharmacy, health centre, banks and ATMs are there when a holiday needs something ordinary. They sit alongside the walks, the villages and the places worth making time for.
